Craig to Chair Newly Formed Committee on Insurance, Financial Services, Constitution and Federalism

Madison, WI — Today, Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) named Senator David Craig (R – Town of Vernon) chair of the newly formed Senate Committee on Insurance, Financial Services, Constitution and Federalism. With the dissolution of the Committee on Insurance, Housing and Trade, Senator Craig will add Insurance to the jurisdiction of his committee leadership. Senator Craig released the follow statement:

“I am honored to serve as the chair of the Senate Committee on Insurance, Financial Services, Constitution and Federalism, and I thank Senator Fitzgerald for appointing me to lead these important areas of state policy.

“Wisconsin is the fifth largest insurance market in the nation with over 2,100 companies – 380 domiciled in Wisconsin – providing more than 80,000 direct, family-supporting jobs and contributing well over $10 billion in economic activity. With this robust and competitive environment, Wisconsin families and businesses enjoy more choices, lower premiums, and stability across all lines of insurance. I look forward to working with committee members to ensure consumers and businesses alike will continue to benefit from the free-market principles that strengthen our healthy, stable insurance marketplace.”

Senator Craig represents the 28th Senate District which includes parts of Waukesha, Milwaukee, Racine, and Walworth counties.
