GREEN BAY– Senator Robert Cowles (R-Green Bay) released the following statement after attending the groundbreaking ceremony for the Brown County STEM Innovation Center, a three-story, multi-tenant office and laboratory building to be constructed on the UW-Green Bay campus:

“Northeast Wisconsin has increasingly become one of the key hubs in Wisconsin’s economy, and UWGB has been an essential part of preparing the region’s workforce for over 50 years. Working to adapt to and evolve with the needs of the region, the addition of an engineering program at UWGB and other learning opportunities stationed in the STEM Center will help generate 50 more years of workforce leaders and innovators.

“With this project passing a major milestone today, the Brown County STEM Innovation Center joins other recent announcements to position Northeast Wisconsin to produce more graduates with the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics skills that keep the region’s economy moving forward.

“I want to extend a special thank you to Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach for his leadership and vision on this project. I also want to thank UWGB Chancellor Gary Miller, private donors contributing through the UWGB Foundation, and everyone else that has helped usher this project through the groundbreaking.”
