Madison–State Representative John Nygren (R-Marinette), released the following statement regarding local districts receiving school safety grant funding from the Wisconsin Department of Justice today:
“As the husband of a public school teacher and father of public school students, the issue of school violence hits close to home. This is one of the reasons I voted last session to provide $100 million in grant funds to schools across the state to make security improvements to ensure they are safe for our students and educators. I am happy to see today that the Coleman, Peshtigo, and Howard-Suamico School Districts were awarded funding in the most recent round of school safety grant disbursements.”
In the most recent announcement of school safety grants, the Coleman School District was awarded $60,000, the Howard-Suamico School District received $190,000 and the Peshtigo School District was awarded $60,000.
“Coupled with our ongoing dedication to mental health initiatives, I am confident these security investments will ultimately provide safer school environments for our children.”
