MADISON, WI — In the wake of Judge Rebecca Dallet’s strong victory in tonight’s election, gubernatorial candidate, past head of NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin and former state Rep. Kelda Roys released the following statement:

“Congratulations to Judge Rebecca Dallet on her election to Wisconsin’s Supreme Court. This is a huge victory, both for Judge Dallet and for the people of Wisconsin. As a proud supporter, I could not be happier to see such a strong voice for fairness and justice join our state’s highest court.”

“Twice this year, Wisconsinites have had to decide between extreme conservatives who would take our state backwards and progressive women who were committed to building a better Wisconsin. Twice this year, Wisconsinites have made the right choice and elected progressive women. I look forward to seeing this trend continue and sweep Scott Walker out of office.”

Roys, 38, is a small business owner, attorney, former state representative and head of NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin who has been standing up for women and families her whole career. In the Assembly, she stood out as an influential and effective lawmaker, delivering results for working families and helping lead the opposition to Governor Scott Walker’s out of touch agenda. As a mother and stepmother of four girls, Roys will fight for paid family leave, affordable childcare, great schools, and quality healthcare for all. In a year in which Wisconsin voters are ready for change, Kelda Roys provides the clearest contrast to Scott Walker.
