Madison…Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) released the following statement on Governor Scott Walker signing the School Safety bills into law.
“Nothing is more important than the safety of our children. Our schools now have additional resources available to further protect our students, so that no child has to learn in fear. We want to thank Governor Walker for bringing this package to the legislature.”
The School Safety package invests $100 million in grants for schools to upgrade building security, creates an Office of School Safety within the Wisconsin Department of Justice, allows grant funding to implement Trauma-Informed Care and Adverse Childhood Experiences in Schools and requires reporting for any threats of school violence.
