Madison – Today, Rep. Jeremy Thiesfeldt (R – Fond du Lac) shared that Wisconsin will receive $227.4 million in new federal funding for our state’s roads and bridges in FY2018. These additional federal dollars are a significant boost that will be used to advance more transportation projects across the entire state. As part of these federal funds, Wisconsin will be receiving the largest Infrastructure For Rebuilding America (INFRA) grant in state history. These bridges are in addition to funding for five other Fond du Lac County bridges that were announced a few weeks ago.

Bridges in Fond du Lac County targeted for replacement as part of these additional dollars will be the Division Street bridge over the west branch of the Fond du Lac River in the City of Fond du Lac, and the Oak Grove Road bridge over the south branch of the Rock River in the Town of Alto. The Division Street bridge was originally built in 1968, and the outcome of its last sufficiency rating inspection determined it was structurally deficient and functionally obsolete.

Planning will begin pending approval from the legislature’s Joint Finance Committee.
