MADISON- After the tragic shooting that took place at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, Texas Representative Taylor issued the following statement:

“All of our thoughts and prayers for the victims, families, and the entire Santa Fe, TX community must be matched by vehement action. We can act and we must act for this grieving community, for the Parkland community, for the Newtown community, for the Columbine community, and for every community that has been racked by the tragic epidemic of gun violence in our schools.

We will not stop raising our voices to demand Republican leaders stop silently accepting money from the NRA, and start protecting our children, our schools, and our communities by passing common sense gun safety reform measures to keep deadly weapons out of the hands of those who wish to do harm. Enough is enough.”

Representative Taylor has co-authored and supported common sense gun safety measures including universal background checks, reinstating the 48-hour waiting period, banning bump stock devices, and magazine capacity limits. Republicans refused to take action on all of these measures last session.
