MADISON – Next week, a Republican representative has invited legislators to an event featuring an anti-choice group, who is associated with an individual who has promoted violence against reproductive health physicians and women attempting to access abortions. In response, Rep. Taylor (D-Madison) issued the following statement:

“I am outraged that a group affiliated with extremist Matt Trewhella, who has openly promoted killing physicians and the death penalty for women who have abortions, is being allowed in the Capitol at an event facilitated by Republican lawmakers. This is an individual who endorses the slaughter of reproductive health physicians as “justifiable homicide”, calls on elected officials to defy the judicial system, which he calls the “wild beast in America”, and advocates for parents to blindfold their children and have them assemble weapons. This is not a group capable of a rational policy discussion, as Trewhella has shown his willingness to embrace violence to end access to abortion services. This is someone who poses a security threat and should not be in the Capitol, nor should the group he is affiliated with.”
