Rep. Spiros Named Assembly Committee on Transportation Interim Chairman
Madison –Representative John Spiros (R-Marshfield) was appointed as the interim chairman of the Assembly Committee on Transportation.
“I am tremendously honored to be named as the interim chairman of the Assembly Committee on Transportation. Given my background in transportation and safety, I look forward to discussing and voting on bills in this committee that will continue to make improvements to our infrastructure and keep the residents of our state safe as they use our roads, highways, and bridges,” said Rep. Spiros.
This appointment comes after the previous committee chairman was named as Assistant Deputy Secretary at the Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection.
“I’m pleased that Rep. Spiros has agreed to step up to this position for the rest of the session,” said Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester). “His vast expertise on transportation issues will be valuable to the committee as interim chair.”
Rep. Spiros served in the United States Air Force for six years and was part of an elite security squad that provided protection for 26 generals and the command center for the Strategic Air Command. After leaving the service, he served as a police officer. He has been in the transportation industry for 24 years, in the role of VP of Safety and Claims Management.
