MADISON – State Representative Jessie Rodrigez (R-Oak Creek) released the following statement in response to Gov. Scott Walker’s State of the State Address delivered before a joint session of the Wisconsin State Legislature on Wednesday afternoon:

“This session has been a tremendous success. As Gov. Walker noted in his speech this afternoon, the state of our state is historically strong. Wisconsin has a record low unemployment rate with jobs pouring in from all over the country and we continue to lower taxes while making historic investments in K12 education. Additionally, due to our bold reforms Wisconsin is going to have a significant budget surplus that is going back to the taxpayers. This fall working families with children under the age of 18 will be eligible for a child tax credit payable to them in the form of a check. This positive initiative will have a direct benefit to families in my district.

“But more work needs to be done. We need to continue pushing reforms that improve access to healthcare, promote job growth and help working families across Wisconsin.

“I’m eager to continue working with my colleagues and Gov. Walker to move Wisconsin Forward.”
