WASHINGTON, DC (August 29, 2018) – U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and U.S. Representative Mark Pocan (WI-02) today sent aletter to President Trump, reiterating their previous request to provide federal assistance for flood recovery efforts in southcentral Wisconsin and highlighting additional needs stemming from this week’s flooding. The letter is in response to yesterday’s torrential storms and subsequent damage in Sauk County, and comes a week after severe flooding in Dane County that resulted in impassable roads and bridges, private property damage and other destruction.

“State and local responders are continuing to survey the damage in Sauk County and assess whether the situation warrants a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) disaster declaration,” wrote Baldwin and Pocan. “As officials continue to evaluate the damage, we urge you to provide any and all federal resources requested by the State of Wisconsin necessary to restore and rebuild the communities impacted by the storms in Sauk County, including but not limited to federal emergency transportation funding and any necessary support from the Department of Defense for the Wisconsin National Guard, members of which have been called to state active duty.”
