Madison— Today State Representative Adam Neylon (R-Pewaukee) issued the following statement in response to the Assembly passing legislation that he authored, the Robotics Grant Expansion Bill and the Traveling Sports Physician Bill:
“I am proud to announce that Assembly Bill 564/Senate Bill 483, also known as the Robotics Grant Expansion Bill, has passed the full Assembly and the Senate, and is on its way to the governor’s desk. This bill allows high school teams with students in grades 6 through 8 to apply for grant monies for their team from the Robotics League Participation Grant Program. When I authored legislation creating this grant program last session, I hoped it would be successful enough to expand so that younger students would want to get involved; now that hope has become a reality.
“I am a strong supporter of STEM focused curriculum, and this program provides a pathway for students to get exposed to it in a competitive and fun environment. If education is about preparing today’s students for tomorrow’s jobs, programs like robotics must be part of the discussion.
“I am also proud to announce the passage of Assembly Bill 766, also known as the Traveling Sports Physician Bill. This bill allows traveling sports physicians and team doctors from other states to treat their players in Wisconsin, without being exposed to great legal and professional risk. This common-sense, bi-partisan legislation is supported by the Wisconsin Medical Society, and will ensure athletes receive consistent, quality health care services.”
