Madison – The University Of Wisconsin Board Of Regents has voted to bring an engineering program to the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay (UWGB) today. Rep. John Macco (R-Ledgeview), a lead supporter for the new UWGB Engineering School, released the following statement:

“The University Wisconsin – Green Bay is part of the heart of the 88th Assembly district and I am proud to represent them in Madison. This is, without a doubt, transformative for Northeast Wisconsin, this fall students will have the option to earn a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.” said Rep. Macco. “There is no doubt that Wisconsin has a large need for engineers and UWGB is now in a position to provide for that need.”

The approval to add an Engineering Program at UWGB is only the first step to broadening UWGB’s focus. The proposal to build a Science, Engineer, Technology and Math Center on campus will further add to the states engineering need.

“Chancellor Gary Miller at UWGB and President Raymond Cross at the University of Wisconsin System have transformed UWGB into a dynamic university that will empower our future leaders.” continued Rep. Macco. “With this new school and the Science, Engineer, Technology and Math Center being built on campus, Green Bay will become the educational and entrepreneurial powerhouse we need in Northeast Wisconsin.”

“I want to thank the Board of Regents for voting to add an engineering platform and continuing to move UWGB forward.”
