MADISON – This week, the Wisconsin Legislature’s Joint Legislative Council announced appointments to the 2018 Legislative Study Committees.
Each of the 10 study committees will focus on an important issue in Wisconsin, and each committee will be made up of select members of the public, and Wisconsin Senators and Representatives. Throughout the summer, committees will convene and develop legislation for introduction in 2019. Representative Kolste (D-Janesville) was selected to serve on both the Study Committee on Direct Primary Care and the Study Committee on Minor Guardianships.
“I am grateful to have the opportunity to learn how to best tackle two important issues facing our state by speaking with key stakeholders directly. Through these study committees, we as a legislature can understand existing problems and craft meaningful solutions,” said Rep. Kolste.
The Study Committee on Direct Primary Care (DPC) will examine DPC as a health care delivery option and assess its potential impact on the health care delivery system and health outcomes in the state. The Study Committee on Minor Guardianships will review state statute concerning guardianship of minors and adults and consider whether any new provisions should apply to guardianship of a minor’s person, estate, or both.
“I am looking forward to serving on these two committees this summer to learn how our state can better deliver quality, affordable health care to Wisconsinites and improve our guardian laws for minors,” said Kolste.
