Time to build consistency between what we say and what we do

Madison – Today, Governor Scott Walker delivered his State of the State address. Rep. Dave Considine (D-Baraboo) issued the following response after listening to the Governor’s speech in the Assembly:

“As I listened to Governor Walker, I felt a dissonance between what was said and what I hear and see in my district. People want the state to listen to those feeling left behind. They want to work together to build communities linked by good roads, good jobs and good hearts.

“Our state has chosen to spend huge amounts of financial and environmental resources on a multi-national corporation with no record of successfully doing business in the United States. The state has also chosen to give higher percentages of state money to private voucher schools instead of public education. And we’ve chosen to borrow more money to do less on our roads.

“We need to reconsider these choices. We need to listen and respond to the dissonance and discontent. And we need to do it together. I hear citizens continually saying “work together” not “go get ’em, you’ve got all the right answers”. So I urge my fellow legislators and Governor Walker to listen to ALL the citizens of this great state. Let’s work together and build with Wisconsin ideas and Wisconsin values.”
