MADISON, WI — On Saturday, June 30th, NextGen Wisconsin will stand in solidarity with immigrant families and engage young Wisconsinites at the Families Belong Together protests in Madison, Stevens Point, Oshkosh, Eau Claire, La Crosse, and Milwaukee. Since the beginning of May, the Trump administration has separated 2,342 children from their parents along the southern border of the United States. Rather than supporting the DREAM Act, GOP lawmakers continue to push destructive, anti-immigrant legislation which holds Dreamers hostage to placate Trump’s base and would allow the Administration to jail children for an indefinite amount of time. NextGen Wisconsin is rallying people to protest on Saturday to tell Wisconsin Republicans loud and clear: these policies are an assault on American values, and we will vote you out of office this November.
With an initial $2.5 million investment, NextGen Wisconsin is organizing young voters across the state ahead of November. With over 31 staff and fellows already on the ground, NextGen is working to organize young voters in their communities and has already registered over 3,000 young Wisconsinites to vote this year.
