The Greater Wisconsin Committee is running a new TV ad in the Madison market that knocks Supreme Court candidate Michael Screnock for his arrests nearly 30 years ago for blocking access to an abortion clinic during protests.

In the Greater Wisconsin ad, the narrator opens the spot saying judges should be fair and impartial, but Screnock was twice convicted of “illegally blocking women from accessing reproductive health care.” The narrator adds he was twice arrested for resisting a police officer.

Both stem from the 1989 protests.

“And now, Screnock is supported by an extremist group that wants to ban abortion in all cases and even outlaw birth control products,” the narrator says, referencing his support from Pro-Life Wisconsin.

The spot concludes, “Ask Judge Michael Screnock, with these extreme views, how can he be fair?”
