Janesville, WI – Today, Cathy Myers released a new campaign video that sends a clear message to Speaker of the House Paul Ryan – students will not wait for him to act on commonsense gun reform and will do what it takes to protect their schools and communities.

Cathy Myers is a single mother of two, 24-year high school teacher, and two-term elected official who has represented Paul Ryan on the Janesville School Board since 2013.

Myers explained the purpose of the video, “I’ve been inspired by the survivors of the tragic mass shooting in Parkland, Florida. They have moved mountains, but they can’t do it alone. I want to do my part and use my platform to encourage others to join their movement by raising the voices of high school students in my community.”

She continued, “Paul Ryan has taken more money from the gun lobby than any US Representative past or present. No Congressman is more responsible for the inaction on commonsense gun safety legislation since the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in 2012. I will replace him because voters are demanding action to protect our kids from gun violence.”

In the video, high school students powerfully describe their experiences participating in mass shooting drills and responding to active shooter scares.

Cathy Myers has received over 25,000 contributions and has amassed over 300,000 campaign supporters. You can learn more about Myers’ campaign on her website, Facebook, and Twitter.
