Milwaukee, WI – This morning at about 3:45 a.m., deputies responded to a crash on I-43 northbound near County Line Road. Bayside Police Department officers were on scene and believed the driver to be intoxicated.
Deputies performed field sobriety tests on the man, who tested a .14 on a PBT. Anthony George, age 48, of St. Francis, was arrested for OWI-4th offense. His prior convictions were in August 1990, May 2012 and March 2014.
George had lost control of his vehicle and hit the median barrier cables before sliding into a ditch. He said he had “seven or eight” drinks at a bar in St. Francis and was driving home.
Acting Sheriff Richard Schmidt said, “Drink, drive, crash, go to the hospital and then off to jail, again and again and… fourth offense drunk driver…and NO, it’s not okay! We will keep aggressively pursuing reckless, intoxicated drivers until the culture changes. Help sound the alarm, this behavior is NOT acceptable!”
If convicted of the OWI-4th offense, George faces up to six years in prison.
