MILWAUKEE – In advance of the Thursday, Feb. 15 special meeting of the Milwaukee County Board, Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele thanks the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors for its thoughtful consideration of Jim Sullivan as Milwaukee County Parks Director.

“Jim’s leadership has been an integral part of the success we’ve had at Milwaukee County”, Abele said. “From his service in the Naval reserve to the community on the Wauwatosa City Council and to the Wisconsin State Senate, and most recently with Milwaukee County’s Department of Child Support Services, Jim has a lifelong commitment to making Milwaukee County a great place for everyone to live, work, and play. Jim will make an excellent steward for one of our county’s most treasured resources.”

“I heard the County Board’s concerns about the closure of the Schulz Aquatic Center and the pay to park proposal. With temporary solutions in place to avoid these measures this year, I am looking forward to working closely with Supervisors to look for ways to – not only avoid cuts – but build a stronger parks system. This is a vision that I believe is shared by all Supervisors and myself,” said Jim Sullivan.

Milwaukee County Parks is an award winning network of trails, parks, historic attractions, golf courses, beaches, beer gardens & nature. Nearly 15,000 acres of park land wraps around the county and includes 140 miles of trails, 169 parks and parkways, 15 golf courses and hundreds of playgrounds, athletic fields and picnic sites.
