MILWAUKEE, Thursday, June 21, 2018 – Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele released the following statement on the County Board of Supervisors passage of a bill to revise the Fair Housing ordinance to prohibit discrimination against those receiving housing assistance vouchers:
“I applaud the leadership of Sup. Dimitrijevic in fighting to expand access to housing for those using federal Section 8 vouchers. Restricting options for people who are looking to find a good home for themselves and their family based on the fact that they are receiving some assistance is inherently unfair. With our community’s strong history of advocacy for fair housing, this legislation is an excellent way to ensure we’re moving toward a more equitable approach and creating economic opportunity within Milwaukee County. I’ll be proud to support and sign this bill.”
