Madison Mayor Paul Soglin today announced that Sarah Edgerton has been hired as
the Director of the City of Madison’s Information Technology Department.

As the City of Madison’s Information Technology Director, Ms. Edgerton will lead
the development of Information Technology department strategies and
partnerships. This includes digital government services, business applications
services, governance, cybersecurity, infrastructure operations, the City’s fiber
network, data management and Madison City Channel.

Ms. Edgerton began her professional career with Madison City Channel as the
Programming Supervisor. She served as the City’s Web Manager for ten years before
being named the interim IT Director in May. As the City’s Web Manager, she oversaw
the development and management of over 65 websites and 120 web applications and
all of the City’s social accounts. She has worked with city agencies and partners to
upgrade and improve IT systems and technology challenges. Ms. Edgerton’s work has
included software and service development, process improvement, accessibility,
security, and privacy. Her salary as IT Director will be $135,000.

“I have worked with Sarah for several years and found her to be a dynamic,
innovative and inclusive leader,” said Mayor Paul Soglin. “I welcome her to the
City’s management team and look forward to working with her.”

The Common Council is expected to vote on Edgerton’s appointment at their meeting
on October 16, 2018.
