MADISON – Yesterday, the state Department of Administration announced that the state is projected to take in an additional $2.1 billion in revenue over the next three fiscal years, the best revenue estimates Wisconsin has seen since 2002.

In response, MacIver Institute President Brett Healy issued the following statement:

“Eight years of sound fiscal management by Gov. Walker and the conservative legislature have put Wisconsin back on the right track. It can be easy for us to forget the bad old days, when under Gov. Doyle, our state lurched from one budget crisis to the next because of reckless spending and runaway taxes. Thanks to Gov. Walker, those days are long gone.”

“We urge Gov.-elect Evers to look to the policies of Gov. Walker as an example of how to run a state budget. We must never return to those dark days of budget shortfalls and never-ending tax increases on the people of Wisconsin.”

“On behalf of all Wisconsin taxpayers, we would like to thank Gov. Walker, Speaker Vos, Senate Majority Leader Fitzgerald, Rep. Nygren and Sen. Darling for their leadership and fiscal responsibility,” Healy said.
