Subject: Regarding Upcoming Primary Election

I first want to thank you for making the tough decision to run for public office. It certainly isn’t an easy job, and it often demands sacrifices that aren’t easy to make. I know I had many reservations about running for state Senate, but ultimately I did it out of a love for my community, and out of a desire to see a better future for my family and neighbors.

Winning an election is bigger than just one individual, it’s about improving the lives of every person you’re elected to serve. It isn’t about one race or one election, but about the positive vision we together can carry into the future.

I appreciate your devotion to our shared Democratic cause — without your effort, our state would have little hope for change. In these final days of the primary election, I ask that you try to remember what it was that first inspired you to run, and lead with your unique perspective. Sometimes in primaries, candidates can get so focused on winning that they cross a line and begin denigrating their opponents. Attacking our fellow Democrats won’t help make our neighbors’ lives better, instead, I hope you remind voters why you’re the best person for the job, and what you’ll do to improve their lives.

It is important that no matter the results, we Wisconsin Democrats stand united on August 14. In November, we have the opportunity to elect a Democratic governor, re-elect our Senator Tammy Baldwin, and elect Democrats up and down the ballot who will do right by their constituents. For us to win, we all need to be pulling in the same direction. So please, keep our end goal in mind as we head into the final stretch.

Good luck, and thank you for stepping up to create the change we need. Together, we can build a better future for all Wisconsinites.
