Unlike AG Brad Schimel, Kaul will fight for common-sense gun-safety measures
MADISON — Today, Josh Kaul, former federal prosecutor and candidate for Attorney General, signed the #NoNRAMoney pledge.
“Wisconsinites should be confident that their Attorney General is fighting for Wisconsin families, not special interests,” said Kaul. “I’m signing this pledge today because, as Attorney General, I’ll always put public safety ahead of special interests.”
While Kaul has advocated for universal background checks and a ban on bump stocks, Attorney General Brad Schimel has criticized gun-free school zones, suggested that Wisconsin consider arming teachers, and failed to take action to fight the distribution of blueprints that can be used to make guns on 3D printers. Schimel met with the NRA in his first week in office as Attorney General. In 2017, the NRA was the second-largest donor to the Republican Attorneys General Association.
Josh Kaul served as a federal prosecutor in Baltimore, one of America’s most violent cities. There, Kaul prosecuted murderers, gang members, and drug traffickers, taking dangerous criminals off the street and making communities more secure. He grew up in Oshkosh and Fond du Lac in a family of law enforcement professionals and teachers. He is running for Attorney General in 2018.
