Incumbents staved off primary challengers in congressional primaries in the 4th and 5th congressional districts.

Republican U.S. Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner pulled off an easy win in the 5th CD with 81 percent of the vote, compared to physician Jennifer Vipond, who garnered about 19 percent of the vote.

Meanwhile, Democratic U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore won her primary in the 4th CD with 89 percent of votes cast compared to former state legislator Gary George, who took 11 percent of the vote.

In other congressional primary races, voters in the 7th CD chose Democrat Margaret Engebretson over Brian Ewert as their candidate to face GOP U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy in November. Engebretson had about 59 percent of the vote while Ewert had 42 percent, with 81 percent of precincts reporting.

And Republicans have chosen Tim Rogers over Cindy Werner as their candidate to face off in November against Moore in the 4th CD. Rogers took 57 percent of the vote compared to Werner’s 43 percent with 97 percent of precincts reporting.
