Small Business Owner and Community Advocate to run for Wisconsin’s 21st Senate District

Bristol, WI – Today, Lori Hawkins announced her candidacy for state senate, running as a Democrat to represent the people of Wisconsin’s 21st Senate District.

“I am running for State Senate, because it is time for a fresh voice with a positive perspective in Madison to represent the 21st District,” said Hawkins. “As an advocate in our communities and a parent who is raising two children here with my husband, I have dedicated my time and energy to promoting a high quality of life for all citizens in our district. To me, this means that there is a balance to be achieved between investing in our people and preserving our natural resources while growing our economy in a way that benefits our citizens instead of big businesses or political interests.

A former English teacher and curriculum coordinator, Lori was born in Fond du Lac and lived in Milwaukee after completing college there. She, her husband, and their young family relocated to Bristol in 2006, close to where her husband Rob was born and raised. While raising her children, she became active in her community through volunteer work and substitute teaching at the local school. Lori now owns a yoga center that offers classes. Because she saw the need firsthand as a public school teacher, Lori also uses her small business to focus on bringing yoga and mindfulness to children and teachers in schools as a means to help them decrease anxiety, increase focus, and foster well being.

Lori and her husband Rob live in Bristol. They have two children who attend area public schools. In her down time, you will find her cheering on her children’s sports teams or enjoying the great Wisconsin outdoors with her family and Golden Retriever.

The 21st Senate District includes communities in Kenosha and Racine Counties west of I-94, Pleasant Prairie, Northeastern Racine County, and sections of Racine.
