Governor Walker Appoints Jackson County District Attorney
 
MADISON – Today, Governor Scott Walker appointed Daniel Diehn to the position of Jackson County District Attorney. Diehn will fill the vacancy created by the passing of Jackson County District Attorney Gerald Fox.“I am pleased to appoint Daniel Diehn to be the next District Attorney in Jackson County,” said Governor Walker. “Diehn is a distinguished attorney with a wide range of professional experience and a strong commitment to community service. He has demonstrated the skills, character, and commitment to justice to serve the citizens of Jackson County well.”

Daniel Diehn currently owns and operates his Black River Falls-based firm Daniel S. Diehn S.C., where he has practiced since 1996 in civil and criminal litigation, family law, real estate, probate, contract, and municipal law. Since 2008, Diehn has served as Court Commissioner in Jackson County where he has presided over criminal, family, and small claims hearings in addition to Treatment and Domestic Violence Court sessions. Diehn has served as the elected City Attorney for Black River Falls from 1999 to 2014, and again from 2017 to the present.

Diehn volunteers his legal services to Together for Jackson County Kids and Black River Falls Athletic Boosters. He is involved with his community as a board member of Friends Sharing Food, the Boys & Girls Club of the Greater Chippewa Valley, and the Black River Memorial Hospital. He also serves on the Jackson County Courthouse Security Committee and the Jackson County Treatment Court Steering Committee.

Jackson County Sheriff Duane Waldera highly recommends Diehn, stating “Attorney Diehn is a well-known professional from our community and will be a great asset to the prosecution of criminal matters that occur in Jackson County. I am looking forward to working with DA Diehn.”

Black River Falls Police Chief Kelly Bakken wrote in support of Diehn, stating, “It has been a pleasure to work with Dan Diehn as the Black River Falls City Attorney and I look forward to working with him in the future as the Jackson County District Attorney.  Dan has been dedicated to serving the needs of the citizens of Black River Falls and I am confident he will do the same for of Jackson County.  Dan’s legal knowledge and professionalism will serve him well in his new position. I wish him the best of luck in his new appointment.”

Diehn earned his juris doctor degree from Arizona State University College of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. He resides in Jackson County with his wife, Heather, and their two daughters.
