(August 28, 2018) Green Bay, WI — Yesterday, Representative Mike Gallagher (R-WI-08) visited Fox Valley Metal Tech while in Green Bay to see firsthand the skilled jobs and business that the production of U.S. Navy aircraft carriers brings to the region. Fox Valley Metal Tech is a major supplier of highly engineered, complex and critical fabricated metal products for the aircraft carrier program.

Beginning with the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), Fox Valley Metal Tech provides products and manufacturing solutions that help enable its customers to provide advanced technologies. Technologies include various subsystems of the electromagnetic aircraft launching system and advanced arresting gear along with cabinets, frames or enclosures for shipboard load centers, switchgear, and other electrical power and control solutions.

Currently, 24 aircraft carrier suppliers in Wisconsin contribute more than $47 million worth of parts and services for the aircraft carrier program per vessel. This industrial base work provides more than 480 jobs (directly and indirectly) for the men and women of Wisconsin.

Critical to the aircraft carrier supply chain is predictable and stable funding for the aircraft carrier program, which enables these companies to invest in new equipment and technology, acquire raw materials in economic quantities, and hire and train more skilled workers.

During his tour, Representative Gallagher met with the employees at the facility to discuss the unique skills they contribute to the industrial base that supplies parts to the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier program.

“Not only is Fox Valley Metal Tech a vital supplier to the U.S. Navy, but the company provides over 140 high-skill and high-paying jobs for Northeast Wisconsin workers. Today it was exciting to see firsthand the important role these men and women play in keeping our local economy moving and growing our Navy to 355 ships.” He continued, “They should be extremely proud of the work they’re doing for the 8th District and the country at-large—I know I am.”

“Hosting Representative Gallagher at our facility allowed us the opportunity to highlight the amazing work our employees do, and express how important support and funding for U.S. aircraft carrier construction is to our community and workforce,” said John West, President, Fox Valley Metal Tech.
