Baldwin, Vukmir to address Veterans Issues at DAV WI Fall Conference

In what may be the most significant forum on veteran’s issues during this year’s U.S. Senate race, DAV Wisconsin announced today Senator Tammy Baldwin and State Senator Leah Vukmir will address DAV members during a Candidate Forum on Veterans Issues
during their Fall Conference. The Forum will be Friday, October 12, 2018 at the Holiday Inn, 1001 Amber Avenue in Stevens Point.

The Candidate Forum will be a moderated question and answer session, giving each candidate an opportunity to state their position on important veterans’ issues. It will be divided into two 30 minutes sessions. Senator Baldwin will speak first at 8:00 am; followed
by State Senator Vukmir at 8:30 am. Both candidates have been provided 11 questions of key interest to veterans. These include:

  • Fiscal Year 2019-2020 VA Budget
  • VA Health Care Reform
  • Expanding Caregiver Support to all severely disabled veterans
  • Women Veterans
  • Burn Pits
  • VA Medicinal Cannabis Research
  • Blue Water Navy
  • Relations with Veterans Service Organization

“We greatly appreciate Senator Baldwin and Senator Vukmir’s willingness to participate in this forum. I know our members will welcome their remarks as these particular issues are of critical importance,” said DAV State Commander Mike Hert of Oshkosh. He is a Post 9/11 veteran who served 5 tours in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Horn of Africa. Hert further stated, “DAV is a nonpartisan organization and is prohibited from supporting or opposing any candidate for political office.”
