Courthouse to close early due to funeral procession for fallen Milwaukee Police Officer Michael J. Michalski

MILWAUKEE– Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele, in consultation with the Office of Emergency Management, Chief Judge, Sheriff’s office, Comptroller, Director of Administrative Services and Director of Transportation, on Wednesday declared a 4 p.m. closure for the Courthouse, Safety Building and Criminal Justice Facility (Courthouse Complex) due to the funeral procession for fallen Milwaukee Police Officer Michael J. Michalski.

All non-essential employees at the Courthouse Complex will be released from work at 4 p.m. As is standard with Milwaukee County procedures for mandatory closures, employees will be compensated for any scheduled work hours lost due to this closure.

The funeral procession will pass around the Courthouse Complex and portions of the downtown area along N. 10th Street, W. State Street, N. James Lovell Street and W. Clybourn Street. The funeral procession may also affect locations for Milwaukee County Transit System bus pickup. Please check ridemcts.com/alerts for any detours.

The Courthouse Complex will resume normal operations on Thursday, Aug. 2, at 7:30 a.m., and all County employees are to report to work that day at their scheduled time.
