[Madison, Wisconsin]:  Pat Goss, executive director of the Wisconsin

Transportation Builders Association, released the following statement in response

to Gov. Walker’s budget proposal:

“This budget proposal fails to address the infrastructure needs in Wisconsin that

have been well documented. Just last week, the non-partisan Legislative Audit

Bureau reported that state highways rated in good condition decreased from 53.5%

in 2010 to 41% in 2015 and that our pavements are worst in the Midwest and well

below the national average. Under the proposed budget, state highways – which

carry 60% of all travel and the vast majority of commercial truck traffic – will

continue this trend of deterioration.

“We look forward to working with the Legislature to develop a transportation

budget that incorporates reforms suggested by the Audit Bureau and provides safe

mobility and economic opportunities for the entire state of Wisconsin through long-

term, sustainable funding.”
