Residential and commercial property sales expected to grow due to increased Foxconn demand
Statement by Erik Sjowall, Chairman:
Madison – The Wisconsin REALTORS® Association enthusiastically supports today’s announcement by Foxconn that it will build a multi-billion dollar flat panel screen plant in southeast Wisconsin. By creating up to 13,000 new jobs and generating over $10 billion in capital investment, Foxconn will transform the economy in southeast Wisconsin and throughout the state.
In addition to the new employees hired by Foxconn, the new plant is expected to create 10,000 new construction jobs over the next 4 years, as well as 6,000 indirect jobs related to construction activity. Moreover, other Wisconsin companies throughout the state will benefit from the estimated $1.4 billion in purchases of materials and products to support Foxconn’s manufacturing activities.
We are excited to welcome Foxconn and the thousands of new employees and prospective homeowners to Wisconsin. With exceptional schools, natural resources, and overall quality of life, Wisconsin is already one of the best places in the world to raise a family or start a business. With today’s announcement, Wisconsin will hopefully become a global leader in high-tech manufacturing and technology.
