The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) is requesting a five-year extension for its current Section 1115 BadgerCare Reform Demonstration Project Waiver. The current waiver expires onDecember 31, 2018, and per federal regulations, DHS must submit an extension request one year in advance of the waiver expiration. Per direction from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the request is being added to the current waiver amendment. The request will not change the waiver amendment DHS submitted to CMS previously.

The extension will allow Wisconsin to continue to provide Medicaid coverage for adults between the ages of 19 and 64 years old, without dependent children, who have income at or below 100 percent of the federal poverty level (FPL). It also continues the requirement of a monthly premium for parents and caretaker relatives who qualify for transitional medical assistance.
