LA CROSSE —The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA), in partnership with the VA Medical Center in Tomah, is hosting the Wisconsin Conference on Veterans Issues tomorrow, Wednesday, September 27 at the La Crosse Convention Center.

Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch will deliver keynote lunch remarks at 12:30 p.m. regarding ongoing efforts in Wisconsin to curb opioid abuse. Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch and State Representative John Nygren co-chaired the Governor’s Task Force on Opioid Abuse.

 

The Lt. Governor’s remarks are a part of a Mental Health and Veterans Issues Summit. During the day long event, speakers will discuss topics such as homelessness, veteran suicide, PTSD, military sexual tramua, and the stigma of pain. WDVA Secretary Dan Zimmerman and VA Medical Center Tomah Director Victoria Brahm will kick off the day with remarks beginning at 8:30 a.m.
