Wisconsin Department of Administration: Access to government increases with Wisconsin’s new public meeting notices website

“We are raising the bar once again on transparency and access to state government,” said Governor Walker.  “It’s the free flow of information from the government to our citizens that ensures accessibility, accountability, and openness for our taxpayers.  As we continue to increase opportunities to engage and inform citizens about the functions of state government, access to information in Wisconsin is now easier than ever before.”

The public meeting notices and minutes website serves as a centralized location for citizens to acquire information about state agency’s open meetings.  Notices can be searched by hosting agency, meeting title, location, description, or date.  The mobile-responsive display allows access from any device, and geolocation via Google Maps allows users to find meeting locations with ease.  

In addition to PublicMeetings.wi.gov, Governor Walker has also led the charge on making other aspects of government more accessible and accountable to the public.  OpenBook.wi.gov allows citizens to easily access state expenditures creating an open and transparent look into how tax dollars are maximized.  State agencies also report quarterly metrics on Performance.wi.gov to establish benchmarks and determine best practices to improve transparency and accountability across state government.
