WASHINGTON — During an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Thursday, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) spoke about the importance of taking the time necessary to repair the damage done to Wisconsin families by Obamacare. Excerpts of Senator Johnson’s appearance are below, and video can be found here.

“What we should be doing is repairing the damage done by Obamacare and working with our Democrat colleagues to transition to a system that actually does work, that restrains the growth in health care costs, brings down those premiums that were artificially driven higher, and really works for the American people.”

“I’m going to need enough time to find out exactly what’s in the bill and to determine if this is a continuous improvement from where we are today.”

“I come from a manufacturing background. Generally a problem-solving process starts with information, defining the problem. In this alternate universe, it seems like information is the last step in the process. I don’t think that’s a particularly good process, but that’s where we are. I’m going to demand the information before I make my decision.”

“I am concerned about those forgotten men and women, people in Wisconsin who always had health care coverage, always were responsible, they work hard, they’re making money, they don’t qualify for subsidies, and now they’re without insurance because they can’t afford it because of Obamacare. Those are the forgotten men and women I’m concerned about, and I’m concerned that the Senate bill, as the House bill did, (will) not do enough to bring down the premiums that were artificially increased because of the market distortions caused by Obamacare.”
