American workers and manufacturers deserve a solid commitment from the President on a strong Buy America standard that rewards their hard work
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 8 at 1:30PM ET / 12:30PM CT, Senators Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and Chris Murphy (D-CT) will hold a press conference call about President Trump breaking his Buy America pledge to American workers.
President Trump has routinely said that his Administration will follow two principles: “Buy American and hire American.” When discussing the Keystone Pipeline last month, he remarked, “It comes from the United States, or we’re not building one. American steel. If they want a pipeline in the United States, they’re going to use pipe that’s made in the United States.” Yet, recent media reports show it will not have to be made out of American steel after all.
Senator Baldwin and Senate Democrats have fought for American workers by advancing Buy America legislation to have our infrastructure built with American products, and prevent taxpayers’ money from being spent on Chinese iron and steel.
