MADISON, WIS. — Jeffrey M. Anderson, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Samuel Robles, 28, Saul Ivan Robles, 24, and Daniel Herrera, 19, all of Rockford, Ill., were sentenced this week by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley for possessing 500 grams or more of cocaine with the intent to distribute. Judge Conley sentenced Samuel Robles to 11 years, Saul Robles to 10 years, and Herrera to five years in federal prison.
The three defendants pleaded guilty to this charge on August 29. Saul Robles also pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm during a drug trafficking offense. Each prison term will be followed by four years of supervised release.
On May 5, 2017, federal agents conducted a controlled purchase of cocaine from all three individuals in Beloit, Wis. The transaction was organized by Samuel Robles and resulted in the seizure of two kilograms of cocaine from Daniel Herrera’s vehicle. Agents also found a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol hidden inside Saul Robles’s waistband.
Samuel Robles received a longer prison term due to his leadership role in this drug transaction, and Saul Robles received a longer prison term due to his possession of a firearm during this drug trafficking crime.
Samuel Robles and Saul Robles are brothers, and Herrera is their cousin.
The charges against Samuel Robles, Saul Robles, and Herrera were the result of an investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Chadwick Elgersma and Elizabeth Altman.
