Lt. Governor and Adjutant General to Join AT&T in Announcing Major Donations for STEP Program
Students at Waubesa Intermediate School in McFarland to Learn How to Be Prepared for Disasters and Emergencies
MCFARLAND, Friday, January 27, 2017 – Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch and Maj. Gen. Don Dunbar, Adjutant General of Wisconsin, will join AT&T and the Wisconsin Wireless Association in announcing two major donations to support a state program that teaches students how to be prepared for disasters and emergencies. The event will be held at Waubesa Intermediate School in McFarland on Monday, January 30 at 1:00 p.m.
Donations from AT&T and the Wisconsin Wireless Association will help Wisconsin Emergency Management (WEM) continue providing the STEP (Student Tools for Emergency Planning) program to Wisconsin schools. STEP teaches students how to prepare for disasters and react to emergencies, as well as how to put together an emergency kit and develop an emergency plan with their families.
The event will also kickoff the statewide STEP program for 2017. Nearly 200 students in the 5th grade at Waubesa Intermediate will learn how they can be prepared in the event of a disaster or emergency situation as part of the STEP program.
