WASHINGTON—House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) today congratulated former Rep. Mark Green (R-WI) on his nomination to be the next Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID):

“For as long as I have known him, Mark Green has been driven by a passion to help people in need. His years of experience fighting poverty and repression in the developing world make him an exceptional choice to lead USAID. In this post, Mark will serve as a strong voice for liberty and help strengthen American leadership abroad. I look forward to his confirmation in the Senate.”

NOTE: Speaker Ryan and Ambassador Green were both elected to the House in 1998. Green represented Wisconsin’s 8th District.
