A written transcript of the address is below:

“Hi, I’m State Senator Jennifer Shilling.

“As President Trump and Republicans in Congress continue to push a health care bill that would increase health care premiums and take coverage away from more than 390,000 Wisconsin residents, Democrats are standing up with health professionals, patient advocates, seniors and working families to fight back and oppose these dangerous, costly and cruel changes.

“Under the Republican health care repeal proposal, families suffering from serious illnesses, individuals with preexisting conditions and older adults living on a fixed income may lose coverage through no fault of their own. The human cost of this bill is tragic.

“Rather than allowing powerful drug companies and insurance executives to write their own rules, Democrats are fighting to expand health care coverage, protect community health clinics and lower prescription costs for seniors.

“In order to strengthen communities and expand economic opportunities, we need to increase access to quality and affordable health care for children, families and seniors across Wisconsin. I encourage individuals who want to express their opposition to the senate healthcare bill to contact their elected representatives. The work is not over.

“Thank you.”
