Madison – State Senator Tom Tiffany (R-Hazelhurst) released this statement following Governor Scott

Walker’s 2017-19 Biennial Budget Address:

“I am excited to hear many of Governor Walker’s 2017-19 biennial budget priorities. I share many of these priorities and I look forward to working on the budget as a member of the Joint Finance Committee.

Governor Walker’s proposed budget included an increase in the funding for rural K-12 schools. These increases came through changes in categorical aid, which will be a benefit to all schools in northern Wisconsin. I support these changes and I believe that every student in Wisconsin deserves a chance to succeed.

The proposed budget has also prioritized the expansion of the rural broadband grant program. I have always encouraged the expansion of the rural broadband grant program and I look forward to helping more people get connected.

As I campaigned throughout my district this past summer and fall, I told my constituents that the number one priority for the state is workforce development. I echo Governor Walker’s priority of bringing Wisconsin back to work. Everyone in Wisconsin who wants to work and is able to work, should have the opportunity to find a job. I look forward to working with Governor Walker and the Joint Finance Committee on the proposed 2017-19 biennial budget.”
