“Hello, this is Senator Mark Miller with this week’s democratic radio address.
“Another week, another gamble with the future of Wisconsin. The state budget finally landed on Governor Walker’s desk this week, after a historic 76 day delay, and he made quick work of inflicting additional pain through his veto pen.
“One of the more ridiculous vetoes relates to energy efficiency revenue limits. Governor Walker’s veto prevents school districts from using this tool from before January 1, 2018 to after December 3018. You heard that correctly, 3018, one THOUSAND years, that is not a typo. A thousand years is an absurd time to deny schools the ability to save money through energy efficiency, that’s disgraceful.
“The list of egregious vetoes is lengthy and disturbing. It includes tampering with the oversight of the Veterans Trust Fund and the Group Insurance Board as well as eliminating the Educational Approval Board. The Governor’s priorities are severely out of whack.
“In a budget that already fails to make our schools whole, adequately fix our roads and help working families prosper, this final version of the budget is the latest of the long list of Walker’s failures.”
