MADISON – State Senator Chris Larson released the following statement commemorating Veterans Day.

“On November 11, Veterans Day, we honor the service and sacrifice of these brave American heroes who fought to protect all of our shared rights and freedoms.

“As a community, we come together to observe and honor our fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, and neighbors who are U.S. veterans. While each day we should show our appreciation, Veterans Day serves as a meaningful emphasis and reminder to all Americans about the cost of freedom and perils of war.

“As a State Senator, I have had the honor to stand before the very people that have selflessly sacrificed so much to ensure our freedoms and safety at the city of Oak Creek Veterans Day Ceremony. This year, this event will be held on Saturday, November 11 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Headquarters Fire Station located at 6th and Rawson Ave in Oak Creek. I hope you will be able to join us as we recognize those who have served. I will also have the opportunity to attend the Veterans Day Assembly at Cudahy High School on Friday, November 10 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. This event has been described as ‘one of the best in Southeastern Wisconsin’ and is open to the public.

“In addition to the Veterans Day event in Oak Creek and Cudahy, other communities located in the 7th Senate District will be honoring the brave men and women who have fought for our country to preserve our nation’s freedom, including:

“It’s important to take the time to reflect on how lucky we all are that brave members of our community left their families, their homes, and their neighborhoods to stand up for the country that we love. In all that we do on Veterans Day to celebrate our nation’s heroes, each day of the year our veterans should feel honored and supported. I hope you are able to join me in attending one of these community events.”
