[Madison, WI] Early Wednesday, the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) released the statewide results of the Forward, ACT Plus Writing, and Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) assessments administered during the 2016-17 school year. The results demonstrate that for the second consecutive year, the ACT scores of students in the Parental Choice Programs are outperforming their peers throughout Wisconsin, where statewide results held steady across the assessments.

Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald released the following statement commending the schools, students, and parents of the choice program:

“I was thrilled to see that once again the students of the Parental Choice Programs throughout Wisconsin are outperforming their peers in the state on annual assessments. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of these programs in fostering student success and are even more notable in programs that are comprised predominately of low-income students.

We are proud to see all of Wisconsin’s students continuing to grow and succeed, and are especially gratified to witness the positive results of the investments we have made in providing educational opportunity for all students regardless of their income level or where they live.”

Results of the statewide assessments for the Parental Choice Program can be obtained from DPI at:
