“A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes” Mark Twain — the truth about Republicans refusing to pass rural broadband expansion bills.

Today, Senator Tim Carpenter issued the following statement regarding the Republicans failure to pass broadband expansion bills for rural Wisconsin — “While Senator Marklein, Representative Quinn, and Majority Republicans can try and sell the fantasy that their refusal to pass broadband expansion is somehow not solely their own doing, the truth is they decided to throw rural Wisconsin under the bus.

It amazes me that while the concept of internet privacy enjoys 93% support, the majority party would rather harm their own constituents in rural districts than have a debate about maintaining privacy on the internet. Our constituents are demanding their personal privacy!

Republicans trying to blame anyone outside of the majority party for their failure to pass these bills is an outright falsehood. The truth is they could’ve passed these bills, they still can pass these bills, all they need to do is bring them up for a vote. That’s the power and privilege of the majority.

The fact is, Legislative Democrats support building vital rural broadband 100% and support protecting people’s right to privacy on the internet 100%. It’s obvious the same can’t be said of Legislative Republicans. You don’t get to blame the minority for your failure to govern.”
