Madison, Wisconsin—While the rest of Wisconsin is honoring the brave men and women who protect our communities every day, Madison liberals in the State Assembly once again introduced legislation critical of Wisconsin’s hard-working law enforcement officers.  This has been a trend among liberals in Madison, and yet Democrat candidate for Attorney General Josh Kaul has yet to weigh in on this matter.  Will Kaul back the badge? Or will he add his voice to the chorus of Democrats blaming the law enforcement community?

“Wisconsin’s hard-working police officers go to work every day to make their communities a safer, better place to live,” said Alec Zimmerman, spokesman for the Republican Party of Wisconsin.  “Instead of standing with our officers in support, Madison liberals find it easier to tell police officers how do their jobs. Will Josh Kaul stand with brave law enforcement officers across Wisconsin?  Or will he become just another Madison liberal against the law enforcement community?”

Background
  • Assembly Democrats yesterday introduced numerous bills that would place an increased burden on hard-working law enforcement officers, requiring additional training that experts say is already received.[1]
  • Experts have been critical of such efforts in the past citing de-escalation training alone as dangerous with potential to place officers in harm’s way.[2]
  • Democrat Candidate for Attorney General Josh Kaul has remained silent on the issue.
