Madison, Wisconsin — Today Representatives John Macco (R-Ledgeview) and James Edming (R – Glen Flora) held a conference celebrating Wisconsin’s commitment to helping people with disabilities find and keep jobs.
Rep. John Macco recently released a bill that will allow for the partners-with-business model of employment to be expanded across the state.
“Wisconsin is at the fore-front of placing people with disabilities into the workforce so they can be self-sufficient, successful and, most importantly, tax-payers!” said Rep. Macco. “The bill Senator Feyen and I released, Partners with Business, cuts through red tape and allows for more open and non-traditional partnerships between employers and employees with disabilities.”
Reps. James Edming and Jimmy Anderson along with Sen. Tom Tiffany recently released a bill (Assembly Bill 625) that will require state agencies to collaborate and work better for people with disabilities who want to work in the community.
“I have seen first-hand the positive impacts of community integrated employment in my district,” said Rep. Edming. “The bill that I am authoring with Rep. Anderson and Sen. Tiffany will get our state agencies to work together more and make it easier for people with disabilities to get the support they need to find and keep a job.”
Both bills are expected to be heard in January and will continue to push Wisconsin to become the state where people with disabilities can find a keep a job of their choosing.
