MILWAUKEE – State Representative JoCasta Zamarripa (D- Milwaukee) issued the following
statement regarding “A Day without Latinxs, Immigrants, and Refugees”:

“The United States, the great state of Wisconsin, and my community on Milwaukee’s near
south side have all been built by immigrants. Without immigrants, Wisconsin’s dairy and
agricultural industries would suffer greatly, and our culture would be considerably less vibrant.

“In his first 100 days in office, President Trump has actively pursued policies and executive
orders that threaten the economic and cultural vibrancy of our country via the rejection and
expulsion of immigrants and refugees. These policies are unconstitutional, un-American, and
have been wholeheartedly rejected by both the justice system and the general public.

“Today I am proud to march in solidarity with thousands of people from all across Wisconsin
who demand a retraction of President Trump’s executive orders on immigration and respect
the value of all members of our society.”
